What is Author of Me at Symmetry Fitness?

Author of Me is a health coaching and private personal training studio located in the Morgantown, WV location. The owner, Carly Morgan, caters to the individualized needs of clients with a desire to work on their health and wellness  in private. The privacy eliminates the chaos, inconvenience, and extra fees that often accompany training in a typical gym atmosphere.  Carly also offers online training options and health coaching via an app that downloads easily onto your phone. Clients can then take their training and health coaching plans anywhere!

An Idea Is Born

     Hi! I'm Carly Morgan the  owner/operator of Author of Me, formerly Symmetry Fitness, located in Morgantown, WV. 


      I am  a National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach trained as a Functional Medicine Certified Health Coach.  Please see my health coaching page for more information on Mind yourself  to Mend yourself  "My2My" Health Coaching services.

      I am also a certified personal trainer through NASM as well as certified through NASM in Corrective Exercise (CES) and as a Behavior Change Specialist (BCS) for Wellness Coaching. 


     In addition, I am  a certified  Functional Range Conditioning Mobility Specialist and am certified to conduct Functional Range Assessments under the Functional Range System approach created by Dr. Andreo A. Spina.  Currently, I am the only certified provider of FRA/ FRCms in the State of West Virginia. I have worked in the health and wellness field for over 18 years in the Morgantown area. 


     Prior to opening my private studio, I trained my clients as a independent contractor through ProPerformance Rx and directed ProMedical’s Weight Management Program. My studio is not a gym open for membership. However, my studio is the perfect place for clients that wish to be able to have complete privacy and undivided attention while working with a highly qualified and experienced trainer.


     I began my journey in the healthcare field in 2005 as a mental health specialist on the Dual Diagnosis Unit at Chestnut Ridge Hospital here in Morgantown, after graduating with a degree in psychology from WVU. After several years at Chestnut Ridge, I transitioned to a different department under  WVU's School of Medicine to work full time as a health educator for their weight management program. This included in person weekly group classes and individual coaching sessions  centered on teaching wellness topics and the skills needed for successful behavior change.


     Working in addictions and in health behavioral change programs, I  recognized right away that physical activity and wellness of the entire individual, should be a component of the treatment plan. Especially for anyone struggling with chronic pain and/or mental health issues. Particularly those with substance abuse/addiction, anxiety, and depression. Unfortunately, this is not something that happens frequently with pain management or mental health treatment. I’m hoping to change that. 


     The privacy that my location has, offers an option to train for those that have difficulties with being in crowded or overstimulated areas. My work experience in mental health offers a different perspective and angle for a population that is remarkably under served. My  studio is a quiet, low stimulus atmosphere, located in Morgantown, WV just off of Canyon Road. 

     I also train a number of working professionals whom run their own businesses, and appreciate the privacy, attention, and scheduling options that are offered through my studio. Sometimes getting away from it all to focus on your own needs is exactly what you need to be successful!

If you really want to start working on your health, but the thought of going to a gym, classes, or a studio that is open to other participants at the same time creates a sense of anxiety or fear, then 1-1 sessions at my location would be perfect for your needs.


     In addition to my 1-1 services, I also offer specific group training classes that are focused on wellness, mobility, and injury mitigation. These classes are kept small to maintain my ability to coach all participants effectively and reduce the overstimulation and anxiety that can occur with typical group classes. 


      Although my clients come from a variety of backgrounds with differing goals, my favorite training area is  combining Health Coaching  and RMR  with mental health and/or chronic pain  clients. From a personal level, I understand what a mountain chronic pain and dysfunction can be to climb. I work diligently with my clients to get them mentally and physically in a place that has them enjoying life again. 


     Working out should make you feel better, not worse. My motto has always been "Train the Brain to Train the Body. Move with Intent", and as such, the focus of my training style reflects that. With the addition of Mind Yourself to Mend Yourself Health Coaching to my practice my motto has expanded  to "Move and Live with Intent".

Studio 1-1 Training

In studio private sessions are limited to availability. The sessions are very specific to the individual needs of the client. This could be FRC or regular training.

Studio clients also receive "homework" home programming, for the days they are not working with me. This is available to them easily through the app so that there is no confusion, and it allows me to check in and monitor their progress.


This home program works on specific deficits they might have that will allow them to progress accordingly both in the studio and in their day to day functioning. This can include: joint stability/mobility work, flexibility, behaviors involving eating habits, midline/core work, corrective exercises, etc. 

Studio clients also receive specific cardio programming to be done daily that is progressed over time as we reassess monthly. Habit and behavioral tracking extras in the app, helps the client  to shape their behavior to be more in line with what their goals are. They use the app to make all of this easier to keep track of. 


In the studio we are working towards renewing, restoring, and building resilience towards an optimal physical and mental state. Most importantly we are learning how to treat ourselves with the space & grace we deserve. You will have some days when it is more difficult to do that. But, simply showing up for the session just might be what you needed to do that day to be successful long term.

Group Fitness Classes

Mobility/ joint strength training class utilizing principles from FRC & CES


  • small class sizes

  • 60 min in length

  • RTE Mobility has focused topics to increase ROM to specific body areas 

  • education that you can utilize at home to further increase your movement capacity and potentially decrease pain

  • adults with any fitness level are welcome!

  • RMR Strength class helps  to increase proprioception and muscular endurance

  • *Fundamentals class required to take before enrolling in RTE Mobility or RMR Strength.
